Continental Europes N01 lady the "prima ballerina" of the organ world Flying in for special one off UK concert
Flamboyant, fabulous, funny the Liberace of the organ world Mr Dennis Awe all the way from the USA for a special Lowrey concert -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blackpool Festival voted a big success, 2011 confirmed. "Cavalcadian’s at the
Castle"
We have just returned from our first ever festival at the Norbreck Castle hotel Blackpool. Aside from the inevitable odd teething problems, like getting used to the restaurant sittings and having to explore to find out where everything was located, we are very pleased to say that a vast majority of Cavacadians voted our new musical home an outstanding success and as one Cavalcadian said “ a very nice step up much better than Pontins, although we will miss the ants!”
We could all enjoy everything under one roof without worrying about the biting cold wind and the public areas were a revelation with comfortable sofa’s, a big conservatory with multiple seating and the ballroom corridor/orangery all having sea views and great ambiance. Every one of the many exhibitors all also gave the hotel a big thumbs up, they were nicely spread out with proper carpeted exhibition rooms adding to the more upmarket and comfortable feel of the venue.
The simply huge main theatre proved a hit as we could set mainly social seating making it much easier to get a good comfortable seat without having to rush, the high stage also allowed all to see the artists where ever seated in the hall and David Thomas once again worked his magic using the twin huge projector screens either side of the stage. Those that wanted to trip the light fantastic also enjoyed the lovely traditional separate Ballroom and we also used the conservatory stage for our own late night shows.
The festival was crammed full with Cavalcadian’s first time out, so may we say a huge thank you to all of you who joined us proving that the secret musical army is still a force to be reckoned with. Talking to the hotel team they seemed to love the Cavalcadians one of the key managers told us “Your Cavalcadians are a nice friendly bunch who enjoy their hobby and the music, we were expecting more grumpy people first time learning about the hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised, we look forward to seeing all again next year and we enjoyed having your people staying at the hotel. ”
The further good news is that next years event has been confirmed with even better dates now starting from the15th of May 2011 with 5 nights of musical magic and we have already agreed plans to make the event even better learning from Cavalcadian input at this years event and on your questionnaires to ensure improvements in the areas requested. We will also be welcoming back the Accordion group who fitted so well with us at Pontins, so 2011 should be another very special all musical festival filling the Castle to the rafters with musical magic, we do hope you will join us. Phone Sue on 01780-782093 to reserve your place.,You can also book the last of this years 25th anniversary celebrations, September's Sizzling Spectacular.
FIND OUT FURTHER DETAILS on how the move came about and our new home below
Our letter announcing the move late last year. Dear
Cavalcadians
As you will probably have heard by
now, the Pontins site at Blackpool announced it was officially closing its
doors on October 2nd 2009, the first we knew about this
was when the news hit the press, and so we were as shocked as everyone
else! Since then we have been working flat out to keep the event alive by
finding a new home for our Cavalcadian family gathering up north.
Feedback told us that most people
wanted to stay in the Blackpool area and finding an alternative location
that can offer us the facilities we all need, including a main theatre,
ballroom, restaurant, exhibition areas, swimming pools (etc) at an
affordable price has proved a real challenge. Many locations also rather
took advantage of the Pontin’s closure by charging higher prices or
offering very early dates, but one hotel came to our
rescue. The recently refurbished and award
winning Norbreck Castle was keen to welcome Cavalcadians from the start,
but with only a few months to go before our festival in May and other
events booked into this popular venue it was a tall order. Thankfully they
have come through for us, by manoeuvring things around they have offered
us what we think is a fantastic alternative with 5 nights over the same
May dates and a host of venues for us all to enjoy. We have all been
disappointed to see the Pontin’s centre at Blackpool go rather downhill
each time we returned over the last couple of years, and we can perhaps
now see why there was not the improvement we had all hoped for! They say
things often happen for a reason and we feel the Norbreck will end up
being much better than what we had before. So as we celebrate our
25th anniversary the Cavalcadian army marches to a new
home. We do hope you will be marching
with us and encouraging all your friends to join us for this exciting new
start as we also celebrate the past 25 years of musical magic, we need
your support to show our new home that the Cavalcadian musical army is a
force to be reckoned
with. You will find images and further
news on our new Blackpool home, along with questions and answers
below, we hope this helps provide more information about
our Cavalacadian
Castle. We do hope we can
count on your support, marching with us to our new home, don’t hesitate to
phone if you want to chat around the options, although we ask you to be
patient as we expect the phone to be
busy. Kind Regards Grant Neal & the Cavalcadian Team

LOOKING BACK......................... WE WOULD LIKE TO SAY A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE HUNDREDS OF LOYAL CAVALCADIANS WHO HAVE JOINED US AT OUR NEW HOME. WE ARE PLEASED TO SAY THAT EVERY SINGLE EVENT AT PAKEFIELD HAS BEEN FULLY BOOKED & THE CENTRE HAS BEEN GIVEN AN OVERALL "BIG THUMBS UP" BY CAVALCADIANS FOR SPRING & SEPTEMBER, 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009. EIGHT SUCCESSFULL TOP EVENTS AT OUR NEW MUSICAL VILLAGE, AS WE MOVE FORWARD INTO OUR 5th YEAR & 9th EVENT on THE CLIFF TOPS NEXT TO THE SEA ON SUFFOLKS GOLD COAST. IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN YET WE HOPE TO WELCOME VERY SOON. Grant, Sue & the Cavalcadian team
THE CAVALCADIAN 'SECRET' MUSICAL ARMY MARCHED to a new HOME in 2006.... After twenty very successful years at the Haven Centre, Caister on Sea, we all marched to a new and exciting venue just down the road. Caister has always been great for us all and we were proud to welcome a capacity audience in its last year, but proposed major changes this winter & the continual downgrading of centre quality would greatly affect your enjoyment and the format of future festivals. With this in mind the time was right to find a new home for the worlds largest week long organ festival. |
|
Keyboard Cavalcade festivals are your events and we always listen carefully to Cavalcadian comments, requests and input. In recent years Bourne Leisure (Havens owners) have replaced many popular chalets with caravans, whilst these are very nice many Cavalcadians have found them a little cold and many of you have been inconvenienced when your chosen unit has been sold before our event, necessitating a move. Bourne Leisure proposed that a further eighty chalets are replaced with caravans, our late night venue and Yamaha’s activity centre (the Bull & Bush) will be demolished, the restaurant will be replaced with some sort of fast food court and Neptunes Palace will be re-modelled into a new venue containing a huge gaming arcade! With just one weeks notice Bourne suggested that if these proposals go ahead they could only offer us a self-catering holiday, no late night venue and Neptunes Palace would be unsuitable due to the huge new arcade and gaming area within the hall, it simply would no longer be big enough to hold hundreds of Cavalcadians in traditional concert seating style. Even before these proposed changes we have had problems finding enough accommodation at Caister to meet Cavalcadian demand, in fact we have had to turn people away because there hasn’t been enough suitable accommodation available to us! |
|
|
|
Suffice to say we didn't find the proposed changes suitable for Cavalcadians and set about finding a new venue that would meet your requirements. There is a saying that 'sometimes things happen for a reason', and although we have had twenty fantastic years at Caister the new venue we have found looks to be even better than what we have now! Before making the decision to move, the whole festival team visited the new centre, once they all agreed it was right for us we announced a special forum that was attended by virtually every Cavalcadian at Caisters sell-out Spring event. This gave us a chance to talk about the changes at Caister and the exciting new venue. Many questions were asked and the new centres details unveiled, it was also pleasing to hear from a good number of Cavalcadians who had stayed at the centre & provided positive feedback for fellow festival goers. At the end of the forum Cavalcadians voted en-mass for a move to our new home. In fact such was the 'buzz' and excitement created by the 'secret musical army' marching to a new venue, that more people booked for Spring 2006 than usual - thank you Cavalcadians for this vote of confidence. Those of you who didn't attend Caister in Spring will be keen to know more about our new musical village, so here are the key points for your consideration………………… |
1: We have negotiated solos use, hiring the entire centre so only Cavalcadians will be allowed on centre. In recent times more and more caravan owners have shared Caisters facilities with us, so our new home should be more musical than ever.
2: All Chalet Accommodation, by Cavalcadian request you wanted chalets not caravans and this is what you will have. Although caravans are fine we have to agree chalets are cosier and they won't be sold or moved, so what you book is what you should get.
3: Less walking, our new home is more compact, although it will actually accommodate more Cavalcadians than Caister. It is designed with all the facilities close together. Caister has become more spread out since caravans were used and the pool and Bull & Bush are a fair walk down the centre. If you can imagine the reception, swimming pool, late night bar, restaurant, theatre and exhibitions all in the same area as Caisters Neptunes and restaurant then this is what we will have.
4: Just Down The Road - Same Great Location, just like you, we love the beautiful east coast Norfolk/Suffolk countryside, so we are moving just down the road near to quaint Lowestoft.
5: Lots Of Separate Venues - We will have lots of separate rooms for exhibitions (in fact more than at Caister!) including a huge main theatre with dance floor, a separate venue with small stage and dance floor, a great pub, a themed restaurant with sea views, plus many more areas, all close together.
6: Three Meals a Day - We have managed to negotiate a great price to include full board, breakfast, lunch and evening meal. So, no more making lunch back in your room or paying out extra, it is now all included. One less thing to think about - one more addition to add to your enjoyment.
7: Great Facilities. The new centre has a superb indoor swimming pool, great games room (snooker, pool, table tennis etc) it even has a nine-hole golf course and cliff top views of the sea!
8: Where Is It? Our new home is the quaint and cosy Pakefield Holiday Village, it is Pontins flagship centre concentrating on special events holidays (big bands, dancing, tributes etc) for the more mature holidaymaker. It is great to visit a centre that is clearly looked after and improved each year, Pakefield has even won a 'Suffolk in Bloom' award for its gardens (they employ five full time gardeners) and grounds.
The good news is the General Manager and staff were keen to welcome Cavalcadians, it is nice to feel wanted and also know that their team want to work with us to make our new home right for the worlds largest week long organ festival.
9: Better dates – We have managed to confirm the same week for the spring festival & even better dates for the autumn show, these are…21st-28th April 2006- 7 nights (Frid.-Frid.) price only £229 p.p. Full Board. and 11th – 18th September 2006 – 7 nights Full Board (Mon.-Mon.) £235 September dates, simply fantastic!
10: Same fantastic week long, all day star cast entertainment programme, guaranteed. The worlds best artists, 3 - 4 top names every night, plus a host of teach-ins, seminars, concerts, chats, dancing, talent shows & much more. Even better value for money with full board accommodation, in fact simply: unmatchable, unbeatable, unmissable!
